Modak/Fried Modak

Modak is a sweet from Maharashtrian cuisin. Most of Maharashtrians families  specially prepare these modak during ganesh festival . Here is my family's favourite modak recipe.


For Dough  
1 cup Maida
2 tbsp fine semolina (rava)
2 tbsp ghee.
Milk or water as required to knead  the dough.

for stuffing
Grated n Roasted Dry Coconut (Nariyal) 1/2 cup
Roasted Mawa 1/2 cup
Elayachi pd twi pinches
sugar powdered 3 to 4 tbsp (or as per taste)
Finely chopped dry fruits 

  Ghee/oil for frying modak.  

                 

Mix all ingredients mentioned for dough and make a stiff dough with milk or water...
Keep covered for some time.

Mix all above mentioned ingredients for stuffing ...  Ur stuffing is ready

Method
Make small balls out of ready dough.....  Roll into thin chapati/paari...  place the Stuffing in the middle of rolled paaries
Gather the sides of Paari in center with folds
Join all folds in center n seal them with d help of your fingers...
Heat Ghee and deep fry all Modaks on slow flame till done. (Crispy)
